Something Wild Photography makes its debut!

Wow… this feels surreal.

I started my photography journey prior to 2010. I’ve always had a passion, I had a good camera, I was in college for this and it just made sense. I had (and still am no expert) no clue how to market a business, let alone create one. a friend designed my logo, and I was known as “Pax photography”. Pax is latin for peace and the roman goddess of the same word. It was fitting and I loved that no one - at the time - had the same name. Then come to facebook and I find dozens all over the world with the same name! I was heartbroken but kept with it for a few years.

next I became “tori north photography”… this was of course after my namesake. again, it fits! I was happy with it and it was unique to me again. five years later, i am no longer a ‘north’ and people are getting confused when i talk to new clients (rightfully so). enter the painstaking thought of another rebrand and another name change. I sat with this for almost three years! i didn’t want just another business name that I would inevitably find myself wanting to change later. I wanted something that truly hit home in my heart and would be memorable and unique and all that jazz.

i came up with dozens of names that in the moment i felt were the right fit, one of them ‘orchids and elephants arts’. orchids as a tribute to my late grandmother and elephants because they are my ride or die animal. but even having that kind of attachment to the name wasn’t enough for me to take the dive.

one day, my oldest son and i were driving and… well, actually you can find that story here!

Something wild photography was born in that moment and nothing else felt hit or felt like home. this was my name, this was my brand, and this was my journey. it was perfection… and my son agreed!

i will never be done growing in my artist walk, or what i like to shoot or how i like to edit. I feel like that will be an ever evolving part of me. and that’s okay! it’s all part of the journey i am on, and I hope that you are along for the ride <3.
